Job Description:

The mechanical and systems engineer designs and substantiates mechanical and systems components on various company projects and programs across the entire life cycle of design and development.  Mechanical systems design includes flight controls, pilot interface, landing gear, environmental controls, safety systems and secondary structures.

 

Specific Responsibilities:

  • Design mechanical and systems components related to the development of new aircraft
  • Support program reviews for programs across Bye Aerospace to ensure engineering quality and that all aspects of the product and program lifecycle have been accounted for
  • Support the definition and refinement of processes within Bye Aerospace
  • Participate in supporting the design of underlying principles and architectures for current and future Bye Aerospace programs
  • Contribute to proposals, reports, and presentations where Systems Engineering issues are relevant
  • Support activities through all stages of product development including Proof of Concept, prototype development and production

 

Minimum Requirements:

    • A BS Degree (or equivalent experience) in Systems, Aerospace, Mechanical or a related field and relevant experience in applying systems engineering principles to complex aerospace and electrical systems
    • 7 plus years of demonstrated experience in aerospace mechanical and systems engineering
    • Strong technical background in flight control design, mechanical design and systems engineering
    • Knowledge of 3D Computer Aided Design Program such as NX (preferred), Solidworks, Pro/E or CATIA with a focus on Model Based Definition and Top-Down design in context techniques
    • Demonstrated success in a highly collaborative environment
  • Demonstrated ability to use MS Office applications
  • Excellent English written and oral communications skills

 

Desired Qualifications:

  • Background in aviation standards and practices.
  • Experience in design, operation and maintenance of small aircraft.
  • Technical background in electrical systems, avionics systems and software development
  • Experience with FAA Certification requirements, testing and report writing.
  • Familiarity with FAA and EASA airworthiness and certification processes, including collaboration with DER's and DAR's.
  • Knowledge of GD&T per ASME Y14.5 along with tolerance analysis capabilities
  • Knowledge of ASME Y14.41 methods for parametric Model Based Definition using NX is desired

 

Other Considerations:

  • Domestic and international travel up to 20 % may be required
  • Work hour flexibility to accommodate international conference calls and business hours
