Job Description:

The CAE Engineer position will support various company programs across the entire life cycle of product development of electrically powered aircraft. This position will be an integral part of the Structures Engineering team working on analysis of primary and secondary structures. Qualified applicant has a strong fundamental understanding of aircraft structures, load paths, computation and traditional analysis of composite structures.


Specific Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for analysis of primary structures under thermal, static, and dynamic loading preferably using NX SimCenter or FEMAP/Nastran
  • Substantiate metallic and non-metallic (composites) structures using Finite Element Analysis (FEA) modeling and classical hand calculations
  • Interpret aircraft loads and apply results from loads group
  • Progress provided CAD model through idealization process, apply meshing and boundary conditions then interpret analysis results
  • Propose suitable design changes to design team based on analysis results
  • Analyze composite airframe structure including bonded joints, bolted joints, solid laminates, and sandwich panels
  • Create structural substantiation reports to support FAA part 23 certification
  • Review and approve engineering drawings
  • Preparing detail structural & materials testing requirements including test plans and reports
  • Support static, fatigue, ground and flight-testing activities of coupons, components, assemblies and flight test
  • Support the definition and refinement of processes within Bye Aerospace


Minimum Requirements:

  • A BS degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering or relevant experience
  • 3+ years of demonstrated experience applying metallic and nonmetallic structural engineering principles to complex aerospace structures
  • Demonstrated ability to perform FEA, interpret the results and clearly present analysis results/design recommendations
  • Strong technical background in fiberglass, carbon fiber, sandwiched panel, solid laminate construction, bonded joints, and lamination processes
  • Demonstrated success in a highly collaborative environment
  • Ability to effectively communicate using MS Office applications
  • Excellent English written and oral communications skills


Desirable Qualifications:

    • MS degree in Mechanical or Aerospace engineering
    • FAR part 23 certification experience, preferably in prototype phase
    • Experience conducting linear and non-linear Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD), Thermal analysis, and/or Kinematic simulation such as Samcef or equivalent
    • Experience with non-linear structural analysis leveraging plastic section of stress/strain curve
    • Experience with multi-physics analysis
    • Experience with fatigue analysis of metallic and non-metallic components
  • Hands on experience with the composite manufacturing and assembly
  • Exposure to New Product Development (NPI) process


Other Considerations:

  • Domestic and international travel up to 10 % may be required
  • Work hour flexibility to accommodate international conference calls and business hours
