Responsible for developing, implementing, maintaining, and improving manufacturing processes, methods, and controls in accordance with product specifications and quality standards. The Industrial Engineer will work with the design and manufacturing engineers to create and improve all facets of time studies, process development, implementation, and continuous improvement of the manufacturing, assembly, and airplane production. 

 

Specific Responsibilities:

  • Work with Manufacturing Engineers to analyzes engineering design to determine manufacturability of components and assemblies
  • Determines time standards to be used to produce new parts/assemblies from detail component fabrication thru job-level installation
  • Develops learning curve and actual hour projections for new program production incorporation; analyzes actual performance and makes necessary process improvement recommendations
  • Using lean manufacturing tools and principles, analyzes and makes recommendations regarding production facility arrangements for improvements to production capacity, manufacturing flow, new model incorporation, and strategic work transitions that improve production rates, quality, costs.
  • Designs production area layouts and equipment locations per defined process standards.
  • Works with cross-functional personnel to analyze and solve production flow issues stemming from sequence of work, balance of tasks, tooling/equipment constraints, and manpower allocation/training
  • Identifies, justifies, and implements new technology and manufacturing techniques to improve safety/ergonomics, reduce manufacturing cost (labor, material, inventory, scrap), and improve product/process quality
  • Manage databased development, software, bar-coding system, and reporting requirements for department
  • Ensure complete integration of bar-coding capabilities with other manufacturing software and hardware as required, providing all manufacturing personnel with the information needed to perform their job.
  • Work document control issues for the department, ensuring Manufacturing has all processing capabilities required in Team Center (Bye Aerospace's document repository).

 

Minimum Requirements:

    • 8+ years' experience designing, implementing, and improving manufacturing engineering processes
    • Experience supporting the design and production of FAA Certified aircraft
    • 5+ years of airplane/aerospace manufacturing process experience
    • Knowledge of composites fabrication and manufacturing of metallic components
    • Experience with ERP and MRP solutions
    • Demonstrated proficiency of SAE, ASTM, and other industry standards
  • Advanced user in MS Office suite, especially Excel and Access
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or Manufacturing Engineering Technology Degree

 

Desirable Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in engineering
  • Hands on experience with some or all the following skill sets:
    • Metal fabrication
    • Machining and assembly of metallic components
    • Fabrication and assembly of composite components
    • Electrical system installation and troubleshooting
  • Experience in production quality systems including MRB
  • Understanding of Solid Modeling CAD in support of designing fixtures and tooling for manufacturing
  • Experience using Siemens PLM/NX CAD/Team Center in a manufacturing environment
  • Private Pilot License
